Mayor Regina Romero champions policies to secure our future and ensure Tucson remains a thriving desert city. She helped Tucson become a leader in water conservation in the Southwest by tackling contamination in water and reducing the city's water consumption from the Colorado River and Lake Mead. Mayor Romero prioritizes protecting our environment, safeguarding our natural resources, and using creative, evidence-based approaches to address climate change.

Mayor Regina Romero was elected in November of 2019, becoming the first woman and first Latina Mayor of Tucson. Raised by immigrant farmworkers in Somerton, Arizona, Regina broke barriers early on as the first member of her family to vote and the first to graduate from college.

Build the Tucson Resilient Together climate action plan.

Create the Housing First program, purchasing vacant and neglected hotels for use as low-barrier shelters and transitional housing.

Fulfill her commitment towards a completely decarbonized transit fleet for the city of Tucson by 2025.

Partner with Trees for Tucson and for-profit companies to plant a million trees by 2030.

Fund the effort to repair every residential road in the city of Tucson, creating complete streets with more infrastructure for pedestrians, transit, and bicyclists.
